The Neo Geo AES+ offers HDMI output in addition to traditional composite video, making it easy to connect to modern televisions. This is one of its major advantages.
The original Neo Geo AES, on the other hand, primarily uses composite video as its standard connection. This was a common connection method for televisions when the system was originally released, but on today’s larger screens, some people may notice a softer image or color bleeding.
For this reason, many people who enjoy the original AES today may already be using a video converter such as a RetroTINK and connecting their system through something other than composite video.
Owning an original AES does not mean that you are limited to the video environment of its time.
We offer a converter designed to transform the AES’s RGB signal into YPbPr. With a television that supports component video input, you can enjoy a clearer image than with composite video.
You can also connect the system to a television through HDMI by combining a SCART cable with a video converter such as a RetroTINK. Even if your television does not have analog inputs, choosing the right conversion equipment makes it possible to enjoy an original AES with your current TV setup.
There are also options when it comes to audio. The audio carried through the original AES video connector is mono. When stereo audio is desired, it is generally taken from the headphone jack on the front of the console.
On our stereo-compatible models, however, the stereo audio signal is taken from the PCB rather than from the headphone jack.
The RCA output configuration shown in the photo is designed for connection to external speakers and similar audio equipment. For those who prefer to avoid modifications to the console casing, we also offer a model that outputs stereo audio through the DIN connector.
